Motivational climates of coaches, peers and parents and intention to practice basketball during free time

The aims of the study were to describe the motivational climates (MC) of coaches, teammates, parents and the intention to practice basketball in free time, to compare them according to sex and to analyse the relationship between them in the total sample and according to sex. Sample: 96 participants belonging to a basketball club of teams from U12 to U18 category. 58 boys and 38 girls. The mean age is 13.3 years (SD=1.9). Instruments: Peer CM Scale (PeerMCYSQ); Parents CM Questionnaire (PIMCQ-2); Coach CM Questionnaire (PMCSQ-2); Intention to practice basketball in free time in the next 5 weeks. Conclusions: Girls showed higher CM task of coaches, father and mother than boys. The CM ego of peers was higher in boys. In the total sample, a high relationship was observed between the CM task of the coach with that of the peers and that of the mother. In the group of girls there was a high relationship between the CM task of the coach with that of the teammates and with that of the mother; in the intention to do basketball in free time there was a high relationship with the CM task of the coach.
