The perception of interpersonal relationships among young people may vary across different population groups. This study analyzed the psychometric properties of the Interpersonal Relationships in Sports Scale in 1,312 high school students aged 14–17 years (14.86 ± 1.55) from northeastern Mexico. SPSS v27.0 and AMOS 26.0 software were used, revealing that the exploratory factor analysis showed an optimal adequacy measure for five factors, maintaining the original structure. The confirmatory factor analysis indicated satisfactory goodness-of-fit indices (X2/df = 3.19, p < .01, CFI = .97, TLI = .96, IFI = .97, RMSEA = .05). The results suggest that the scale is suitable for assessing interpersonal relationships perceived in physical education classes. The identified factors may contribute to improving relationships among students and the agents involved in their learning, fostering a deeper understanding of the interpersonal benefits on students’ academic performance and holistic development.
