Abstract

Basketball is characterized as an acyclic and intervallic sport, with many explosive actions that require both aerobic and anaerobic efforts. Developing the necessary capacities requires proper planning. In addition, it is essential to control the load to maximize the performance of the players and reduce the number of injuries. The quantification of the load is done through internal and external loading. The internal load refers to the physiological responses of the player caused by the training being specific to each of them, while the external load refers to the load caused by the different training tasks. The main objective of this systematic review is to identify and analyze the methods of quantification of internal and external load in elite female basketball players. Variables such as accelerations, decelerations, jumps, distances, Player Load, Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE), and heart rate were analyzed, all of which improve the performance of the players according to the data obtained. Basketball players will need a rigorous analysis of quantification methods. For this, accelerometers, inertial devices, RPE and heart rate bands are needed to analyze the many variables in the players' performance.
