Efecto de la edad relativa en el balonmano profesional español

En el deporte, al clasificar durante el período de formación a los jugadores en función del año de nacimiento, se generan desigualdades en cuanto al número de oportunidades de aprendizaje. El presente estudio investiga el efecto de la edad relativa (según el año de nacimiento) en las máximas categorías del balonmano español. Se analiza su presencia y se observa si las variables género y nacionalidad influyen en él. Para ello, fueron recogidas las fechas de nacimiento, el género y la nacionalidad de los 1141 jugadores y jugadoras de las dos principales ligas españolas (Liga ASOBAL y Liga Guerreras Iberdrola) durante 3 temporadas. Tras clasificarlos por año de nacimiento, asumiendo una distribución equitativa, los resultados demostraron únicamente diferencias significativas en el caso del balonmano masculino (χ² = 5,04; p = 0,02) con un coeficiente RAE de 1,20. La distribución en el caso de las jugadoras fue más homogénea. Al observar la muestra en función de la nacionalidad las mayores diferencias se dieron en los jugadores extranjeros (χ² = 7,20; p = 0,01) con un coeficiente RAE de 1,45. Por tanto, se puede afirmar que el RAE a causa del año de nacimiento únicamente influye en el balonmano masculino de élite español, provocado por aquellos jugadores internacionales que militan en los equipos de la Liga ASOBAL. La presencia de estos deportistas extranjeros es la causa de las únicas diferencias observadas entre los grupos analizados.
